Chris Collison Masterclass
Tuesday 21 September 2010, 09.30 - 16.30
Following on from his February No More Consultants talk at LIKE, we were delighted to welcome back Chris Collison for a full day Masterclass to explore and experience these knowledge management techniques in more depth.
During a highly interactive workshop, participants experienced the following tools first hand:
- Anecdote circles
- Creating a self-assessment tool
- River and stairs diagrams
- After Action Reviews
All attendees got their own pack of Chris' Knowledge Trumps, as described in April's Inside Knowledge.
Outline of the day
After introductions, particpants shared their stories of meetings from heaven and hell using the Anecdote Circles technique. The emergent themes were used to develop the headings and content for a self-assessment tool on the topic of Effective Meetings.Participants learnt the steps and facilitation techniques to create a self-assessment tool for any topic of theme.
Having constructed the self-assessment tool together, participants used it to self-assess their own organisation, and created a River Diagram using physical space and an electronic Excel tool (provided.)
The group then interpreted the River and Stairs diagrams to identify how they could best learn from each other, and used knowledge trumps to identify appropriate tools to close the gap.
Participants learnt how to create and analyse a River Diagram, select interventions from a range of KM tools, and experienced the River Assist process.
Finally, a chance to reflect on and discuss the techniques used, and to consider how to implement these in their own organisations. Participants completed the day with an After Action Review.
