LIKE 85: Practical knowledge and information management. Tuesday 4th June 2019
Come and hear Katharine Schopflin and Matt Walsh talk about knowledge and information management in practice as they their learnings from their new book, Practical Knowledge and Information Management .
Their book looks at how knowledge and information management is implemented in organisations, problems you might encounter and practical advice on how to approach it. The authors will speak informally from their own experience and from what they have learned while writing the book.
Come to this stimulating talk and and enjoy the traditional LIKE benefits of a hearty pub meal (the Calthorpe Arms is known for its generous portions!)and convivial company. All attendees will receive a voucher entitling them to a 50% discount on the book and two attendees will win a copy.
About our speakers
Katharine Schopflin is an information professional with more than 20 years’ experience. She has worked in sectors ranging from media to government and in a range of information and knowledge management roles. She teaches regularly on MA LIS courses and has published in both trade and academic journals. She is the editor of A Handbook for Media Librarians and author of A Handbook for Corporate Information Professionals
Matt Walsh is Global Knowledge Manager at dunnhumby. He has 16 years’ experience as a knowledge and information management professional working across a range of public and private sector organizations to deliver successful KM and IM solutions.

Jo will shares her career journey with us. This includes both paid and voluntary roles in the library sector which led to her portfolio career as a coach, trainer, and blogger. During the talk, Jo will share tips and advice for understanding more about our passions and how we can integrate these into our lives.
CV, interview advice and the job market from CB Resourcing's Tracey South and Jayne Winch.
Their talk will give you an overview of improving your CV; the pitfalls to avoid, some handy interview tips and key results from recent surveys conducted by CB Resourcing in the legal and higher education sectors. These investigate current skills, skills gaps that exist now and ask which skills will be needed in the future, from an employers’ perspective.
LIKE 88: User experience.
Our two speakers - from different industry sectors - discuss their approaches to user experience. What lessons can you take away and apply in your workplace?
LIKE 89: Autumn Quiz. November 2019
Our flagship quiz returns with its range of popular pub-quiz topics and audio and video elements to keep you on your toes! The winning team will all receive a £15 book voucher and a buffet will be served during the evening.

LIKE 84: Visit to Dennis Severs' House. 27th February 2019
Please join us on our visit to this historic house in Spitalfields which portrays the lives of a family of Huguenot silk-weavers from 1724 to the dawn of the 20th Century. Numbers are capped at 20 so we advise booking promptly to avoid missing out.
Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to mingle over drinks at The Water Poet Pub across the road.
